Booking your Motorhome

Can I hire?

To hire a motorhome from Hireport Rentals you need to meet certain requirements. You must be over 25 and under 75. We cannot accept drivers with more than 6 points on their licence.

In order to hire a vehicle, you must have signed and completed our rental agreement, the primary / named driver must pay for the hire via a traceable means, namely a credit or debit card. They must also provide 2 x utility bills dated within the last 3 months and also provide a copy of their photo driving licence. Additional drivers must also provide their photocard driving licence and utility bills x 2, dated within the last 3 months.

Do I need a special licence?

No. Hireport Rentals motorhomes and campervans can be driven on a standard B licence. Some bigger motorhomes do require a special licence, but we've kept things simple by leaving them out of our hire fleet. You must have held a full UK licence for a minimum of 2 years and not have had your licence suspended in the last 3 years. You must not have been involved in more than one fault accident in the last 3 years. You must not have had more than 2 convictions in the last 3 years ( 3 points each ).

You must not have had a, BA, UT or DD driving conviction in the last 3 years.

I've never driven a motorhome - is there any help?

Yes. We'll introduce you to the vehicle and talk you through its main functions and controls. Everything is detailed in a user guide we have written specifically for people with no experience of motorhoming.

I have points on my licence - can I hire?

Yes and no. If you have accrued more than 3 penalty points, please call us for prior approval on 01939 231081

I have made a recent vehicle insurance claim – can I hire?

You need to declare at the time of booking if you have made, or had made against you, 1 fault vehicle insurance claim within the last 3 years. If you have more than 1 fault claim, unfortunately we cannot cover you.

How do I book?

It's simple. Just fill in the booking form on the homepage with your dates and the number of people travelling and then follow the steps on screen. Your holiday is booked in a few simple clicks - no need to make phone calls or email us.

How long do I have to pay?

You will initially pay a deposit (25%) upon making your booking. You will need to have settled your balance no later than 2 weeks before you pick up the motorhome. Don't worry, we'll keep you posted with the occasional email reminder to keep your holiday on schedule.

How long can I hire for?

You can rent from just 3 nights off peak. Our minimum hire period changes depending on the time of year you are travelling: -

Jan, Feb, Nov, Dec – 3 nights
March, April, May, June, Sept, Oct – 5 nights
July, Aug – 7 nights

How many people can drive?

You can have up to 3 named drivers. But all drivers must be present at pick-up with the relevant paperwork. So just because you have booked doesn't mean you have to do all (or any) of the driving.

Am I insured?

Yes, we include comprehensive insurance cover for up to 2 drivers for road traffic accidents or collisions. We operate an excess deposit of £1,500. This will be held against your credit card (only charged in event of an incident). Excess is the amount you're required to pay when making an insurance claim. We also offer an optional CDW (collision damage waiver).

Can I reduce the excess?

CDW stands for collision damage waiver - it significantly reduces the excess. It is charged at £15 per day. But when you take out the CDW, the amount of excess you will pay if involved in a road traffic accident or collision is reduced from £1,500 to £750 (subject to detailed terms and conditions).

What if I cancel my booking?

Plans can and do change. Unfortunately, we do have to charge you in the event of a cancellation. The amount you will be charged depends upon how close you are to the booking date when making your cancellation. Please see below for the details:

Cancellation charges

  • More than 14 days – 25% of the total hire charge
  • 8 - 14 days - 40% of total hire charge
  • 3 - 7 days - 60% of total hire charge
  • 2 days - No Show - 95% of total hire charge

Collecting and Dropping off your Motorhome

What paperwork do I need to bring?

  • Passport
  • Utility bills x 2 from previous 3 months

Important reminder: All drivers need to be present with their relevant paperwork when you arrive to collect your motorhome

Where is the Hireport Rentals Depot?

Grange Park, Shawbury Road, Wem, Shropshire, SY4 5PF.

Can I leave my car?

Yes, we offer free on-site parking for the duration of your holiday. Our depot is supervised, gated and under monitored CCTV for your peace of mind.

What time can I pick up my motorhome?

Our standard pick-up time is in the afternoon (between 2pm and 4.30pm). However, we understand that our customers want to make the most of their motorhome experience and, with that in mind, we will try to accommodate earlier collections on a request basis.

During busy periods, early collection is less likely to be available and we won’t be able to confirm until a few days before you travel.

What time do I return it?

We ask you to return and unload your motorhome by 11.00am please (our office opens at 08.30am). Failure to do so could impact another customer’s holiday and will attract late return charges of £75 per hour, chargeable quarter hourly.

We recommend that you stay within 2 hours of the Hireport Rentals depot on your last night to ensure a stress free return journey.

We've stripped away any confusion by including as standard everything you could possibly need to enjoy your holiday, from kitchen equipment and bike racks to sat nav and camping furniture.
